HOPKINSVILLE, KY (WFIE) -

In Hopkins County, Crime Stoppers has given cell phones to school resource officers at Madisonville-North Hopkins High School and Hopkins County Central.

With the phones, officers can receive text messages and tips from students about bullying, weapons, drug activity, theft, vandalism or other incidents in a quiet fashion.

Students can also text officers any time they feel unsafe.

Crime Stoppers is also working with Dawson Springs High School to implement the same program.

They recently received a grant from Community Improvement Foundation of Madisonville and Hopkins County to cover the cost of the phones.
