Children from Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center's Preschool program were treated to a day on the ice.
About 50 kids, ages 3 to 5, got to skate at Swonder Arena.
Many of the children in Easter Seals have mental or physical disabilities, so they used buckets, sleds and toboggans to skate around the rink.
One Easter Seals representative tells us the kids are learning important skills.
"The kids are having fun and they don't even know a lot of them are working on some of the skills that they're in therapeutic preschool to work on," says Deidre Scheu. "A lot of them practicing moving, pushing the buckets, helping them keep their balance and at the same time working on their feet and their ankles. And we're out in the cold with different clothes on and different shoes on and it gets them used to some new things."
