Kids learn healthy eating through "FoodPlay"

Posted: Updated:

Starting Wednesday, Henderson County students are learning what to eat and what not to eat, through theatre.

This is the second year the county has teamed up with the traveling show called FoodPlay.

The first stop for the show Jefferson Elementary in Henderson. They'll be visiting 8 schools total this week and next.

FoodPlay is a national award-winning theater show promoting healthy eating and exercise habits.

It brings awareness to those habits by entertaining the students with colorful characters, juggling acts, motivating messages, music and magic acts.

FoodPlay aims to show the students that clean eating can be fun--but they want to make sure the students know how serious the topic is.

They say one in three children is overweight, and less than two percent of the nation's youth are meeting their daily nutritional requirements.

They'll start their show Jefferson Elementary at 8:30 and move on to East Heights later today.
