EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Evansville water customers can expect to pay more for water soon. The utility board made the decision at a Tuesday meeting.

How much money are we talking? A typical water customer who uses 5,000 gallons a month can expect a $2.75 increase per month the first year and $1.60 extra per month the next two years.

Water officials say they have to 100 miles of water lines that are nearly 100 years old. Those lines have to be repaired or replaced.

The last rate increase was in 2010.
