ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

It is state tournament time in high school basketball.

The Georgia High School Association state tournament begins on Tuesday night and the GISA state tournament will start on Wednesday.

The Monroe Tornadoes will open at home against Dutchtown Tuesday night.

The Tornadoes enter the state tournament coming off a tough loss to rival Westover for the region title.

Losing the region title has hurt the pride of the Monroe team after they went through the region schedule unbeaten.

The pain though will be forgotten if the Tornadoes can win a state title.

A goal that is helping Monroe move on from the region tournament.

"We wanted it.  Yes we did. that is over.  We are getting ready for Dutchtown. We just spoke about earlier that it is a game by game now. We are 3 games away from a final four.  We are trying to get there now," said head coach Marquis Davis.

"Just got to play for the seniors. We have got 12 seniors on the team.  It could be our last 32 minutes.  We just have to go out there and play," said senior Jabari McGhee.

Monroe girls play at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at home against Riverdale.

The Tornadoes will play at 7:30 against Dutchtown at the Monroe gym.
