OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -
Plans for a new restaurant in Downtown Owensboro that were announced in December continue to move along.
As the developers work on some final details, economic leaders say it should only be a few more weeks before we learn more about the mixed-use building that's coming here to Riverfront Crossing, which includes a restaurant.
This is only the second project in the Downtown Redevelopment movement that's taken shape from the ground up.
City officials say the new restaurant will include a walk -up window where pedestrians can order their food.
Right now, it's still unknown what kind of food that will be, but economic leaders say the restaurant won't be a chain.
The developers originally planned for a spring opening date, and Joe Berry with Owensboro Economic Development says that's still a possibility.
"They have been very up front about their desire for a quick construction period as well as they want to be open, obviously, for the warmer months when the park opens, so a good time to be doing a grand opening of your restaurant," said Berry .
Berry says some interest has also been expressed in the vacant lot that faces Smothers Park. We'll keep you updated on those plans.
