A Henderson man police spent the night looking for in McLean County is now in jail.
Madisonville Police say that chase started on Monday after the suspect stole items from the Madisonville Walmart.
"Some of the items were electronics that had security devices on them, but that is just a few from a list that I think is rather long," Madisonville Police Lt. Robert Carter said.
The McLean County Sheriff's Office says a farmer then found Hayes Tuesday morning inside his barn. Deputies say Hayes then ran to hide inside a nearby home where officers arrested him.
14 News is told that multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in the chase, including Kentucky State Police. Officials say that teamwork was helpful in being able to locate the suspect.
"With law enforcement, we are very fortunate in the state of Kentucky to have wonderful partnerships. The old saying of you can run, but you can't hide, that certainly comes into play on this situation, " Carter said.
Police say the store is still working to determine just which items were stolen.
Officials say Hayes is lodged at Hopkins County Jail and facing these charges:
Theft by unlawful taking
Fleeing and evading police, 1st degree
Theft of a motor vehicle registration plate
Operating a motor vehicle on suspended or revoked license
