A house that was destroyed by fire about a month ago on Egmont Avenue is getting a complete makeover thanks to a group of volunteers.

Homeowner Julia Adam says her family has lived in their home for almost 20 years. She says the house was paid off, but they didn't have insurance. They went out one night to get lightbulbs for the house when they got a devastating call from their neighbor.

"Well, you know, we have lost everything. I mean when you're going out shopping for items for your home and you get a call that says you don't need those after all because you have no home for them. I've always wondered what we would do if it ever happened and now I get the chance to find out," Adam said.

A new Evansville organization called, Community One, is working with residents to restore and renovate homes. There are 34 projects going on right now, everything from plumbing projects, to the rebuilding of a fire damaged house.
