OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -
The sixth annual Men Who Cook Mardi' Gras Bash is taking place Saturday
night, February 23, at the Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club.
Men Who Cook is the area's premier Mardi' Gras
event , featuring live music, a great party, silent auction, and, of course, men
who cook.
"The food is amazing. Those who attend will taste the most delectable
and creative dishes," said Richard Remp-Morris, director of development for the
Glenmary Sisters.
The unique food competition and party features chefs from
the region preparing such delicacies as Stuffed Mushrooms, Cajun Turtle Soup, Brown
Butter Bourbon Chocolate Chip Cookies and so much more.
The event raises funds
to support the mission work of the Glenmary Sisters, who serve
the poorest Americans.
"It touches your heart to do something for those in need,
and the Sisters work for those with the greatest needs," said Ohio County
Sheriff David Thompson, who chairs the event.
The Glenmary Sisters are a
community of Catholic Sisters who live and minister in rural America. Men Who
Cook is the signature fund-raising event supporting their work.
Celebrity chefs provide 200 bite size portions of a main
dish, side dish, soup or chowder, salad or dessert for the event, which will be
7 p.m. to 11 p.m. February 23.
The men will compete for coveted Silver Spoon
awards in the following categories: 1st Place Dish, 2nd Place Dish, 3rd Place
Dish, Best Presentation, People's Choice, Best Decorated Apron and Best
Decorated Table.
Tickets for the event are $25 in advance or $40 per couple
and may be purchased by calling 686-8401. Tickets will be $35 at the door the
night of the event.
