EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Students from the EVSC's Career and Technical Center are learning while helping Delaware Elementary students.

The students have been constructing pergolas in the courtyard of the school.

They started in September and are in the final stages on construction.

For the older students, it's been a learning experience and a way to give back.

"We get to learn, of course, teamwork and sharing, working with each other, cutting angles, screwing stuff in," says Jason Chambliss. "All kinds of stuff"

The pergolas will provide a shady area for students to sit and read as well as do homework.

Construction is due to wrap up just in time for the warmer weather.
