The FBI have arrested a man after they say he tried to set off what he thought was a car bomb at a bank in Oakland, California.

Authorities arrested 28-year-old Matthew Aaron Llaneza after a month long undercover investigation.

Agents say he met with someone he thought was connected with the Taliban in November, but it was actually an FBI agent.

Officials say he was hoping to trigger a civil war.
