OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

Owensboro residents and officials are expected to learn more about what lies in store for the Blue Bridge over the next few months.

The bridge will be one of the main talking points at Thursday morning's monthly Rooster Booster Breakfast.

It starts at 7:30 a.m. at Owensboro Christian Church.

Kevin McClearn with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will discuss more details and finalize plans for the Blue Bridge project.

As 14 News reported on Tuesday, the bridge will be completely shut down while it's painted.

Owensboro Mayor Ron Payne says the bridge will close right after the BBQ Festival in May and will reopen sometime in the fall.

It's expected to cost $17 million to paint the bridge.

Governor Steve Beshear announced in December that the painting would take place this year instead of in 2017.

At today's breakfast, officials will also give updates on other transportation projects, including the U.S. 60 Bypass Extension and Interstates 69 and 67.

Of course, 14 News will bring you the latest on those finals plans once we learn more today, so be sure to stay with us on air and on 14news.com.
