Plans are in the works to celebrate Warrick County's bicentennial this year.

This April marks the 200th year anniversary for Warrick County.

Celebrations are planned all year long, including events in Newburgh, Boonville and surrounding communities, including a Degonia Springs reunion in August or September.

Organizers area also planning a text book of Warrick County's history over the past 200 years.

"Starting from Darlington, used to be the settlement, it was the initial county seat. Darlington is where Alcoa is located now. We've got the underground railroad very active up in the Lynnville area during the Civil War," Todd Glass said. Glass is on the Warrick County Bicentennial Steering Committee.

There will be a public meeting February 10 at 2:00 p.m at the Central Library in Newburgh.

Residents  from Elberfield and Lynnville are encouraged to attend along with business owners who want to get involved.
