Here's your chance to become a weather spotter

It's only the first week in February and already the tri-state has had two severe weather events.

If you would like to learn more about how severe weather forms and is detected, you may be interested in some upcoming classes.

The National Weather Service in Paducah is holding several Skywarn spotter training courses in the coming weeks. 

The first one in the tri-state is this coming Monday in Owensboro at Brescia University at 6pm.  You can call 270-685-8448 for more information.

Fairfield will host a Skywarn course on Thursday, February 21st at the Wayne County E.O.C./E.M.A. office at 6pm.  Call 618-842-3884 for information.

The American Red Cross building on Stockwell Avenue in Evansville will host a course in on Saturday, February 23rd at 9am.  812-435-6020 for more information.

Madisonville will host the course on Tuesday, February 26th at 6pm with a location to be determined.  Call 270-821-5717 for details.

Each class lasts approximately 2 to 3 hours and is free.  Registration is not necessary.
