MUHLENBERG CO., KY (WFIE) - The Muhlenberg County Sheriff's Department, along with other local law enforcement agencies, went looking for more than 40 people they say are involved with drugs trafficking in Muhlenberg County.
For the past five months the Muhlenberg County Sheriff's Department and the Pennyrile Narcotic's Task Force have been investigating drug activity in Muhlenberg County. Muhlenberg County Sheriff Curtis McGehee briefed a room full of officers and informed them of the 44 warrants that needed to be served.
"It will go from South, to the north, to the east, west part of our county," said Muhlenberg County Sheriff Curtis McGehee, "I think we will have people arrested from every part of our county."
The officer's found a meth lab inside a mobile home and chemicals and equipment used to manufacture meth as part of their search.
"Officers had actually come to this residence earlier this evening to execute a warrant in our roundup process," said Muhlenberg County Sheriff Curtis McGehee, "They found two meth labs inside of the home."
Sheriff McGehee said he was pleased about the night.
"I think it's gone really well. I know we had another incident where an arrest was made and the person was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia so I think doing the roundabout on Friday night is going to prove productive for our community," said Sheriff McGehee.
Sheriff McGehee says the county is moving in the right direction by providing educational programs for kids and targeting those that are selling drugs.
All the suspects arrested will be taken to the Muhlenberg County Detention Center.
