Convicted murderer released by mistake

Federal and State officials in Illinois and Indiana are on a manhunt for 44-year-old, convicted murderer Steven Robbins.

He was freed by mistake while at a court appearance in Chicago.

Friday night, the Cook County Sheriff's Office is taking responsibility.

They say they lost paperwork in Robbin's file that would have directed jail employees to send him back to Indiana.

His ex-wife, Nicole Robbins, says she is worried about his safety.

"I know he's a good guy," says Nicole. "I'm scared for him, because they might kill him, but it's their mistake. He's not no serial killer or nothing like that."

Officers have been close to recapturing Robbins and there have been sightings in Gary, IN.
