EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Spurring economic growth along the new I-69 corridor was the focus of a special meeting held today in Evansville.

About 90 people attended the Innovation Consortium inside Carter Hall at USI.

It was a follow-up to a meeting from November in 2012.

Five separate task forces have now been organized to figure out how to create new jobs through new business from Evansville.

"We want to stay up more businesses. We want to see more innovation within the area," says Mark Bernhard, Chair on the I-69 Corridor Executive Committee.

"We are doing a lot a great things, we have a lot of assets but we need to focus on that if we want to make in-roads and take advantage of this I-69 highway."

Organizers say another challenge is how to brand the corridor and secure capital for new development.
