Evansville Police have charged 27-year-old Antonio Handley with Possession of a Handgun by a Serious Violent Felon and Conspiracy to Deal Cocaine. He was arrested after police responded to his home for a shooting. Investigators determined the shooting was self-inflicted.  He is still in a local hospital under police guard following surgery to remove the bullet from his leg.

Handley has prior felony convictions for drug charges that prohibit him from possessing a firearm. During the investigation, a juvenile in the home tried to leave with two handguns and 27 grams of cocaine valued at $2700. Police believe one of the guns was involved in the shooting. The juvenile was arrested on weapons and drug charges and placed at the Youth Care Center.

At the time of the shooting, there were 6 children in the house. They range in age from newborn to 15. The mother, 34-year-old Myia Payne, was arrested and charged with Conspiracy to Deal Cocaine and 5 counts of Neglect of a Dependent. The children were removed from the home by CPS.

Police believe Handley and Payne attempted to have the juvenile conceal the guns and drugs and remove them from the house.
