MUHLENBERG CO., KY (WFIE) -

The Kentucky State Police charged a Greenville woman with theft of a controlled substance.

On Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at approximately 1:40 p.m., troopers arrested Jennifer R. Whitney, age 38 of Greenville, KY.  Whitney was charged with one count of Theft of a Controlled Substance (Class D Felony).

The KSP Post 2 Madisonville says they had received a complaint from the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in reference to a nurse stealing medication from patients under her care.

KSP says their investigation revealed that Whitney would replace the patient's prescription medicine with over-the-counter medicine. KSP says after the investigation they were able to obtain an arrest warrant and Whitney was arrested during a traffic stop in Beechmont.

She was lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center.
