Many Tri-State roads slick after winter weather

Posted: Updated:

Winter weather caused some roads to freeze overnight. Many counties are reporting slick roads this morning.  Even some main highways that were pretreated.

Friday morning in Gibson Co., crews report many roads are slick, even main roads, even though pretreated. Officials say the roads are also pretty slick in Posey Co. Friday morning.

In Warrick Co., a tree is down on SR 68 blocking the road between Lillypad and Weyerbacher.

Officials in Vanderburgh Co. says a vehicle went off the road north of the bridge on Diamond on 41.

Authorities also say a truck got stuck down an embankment just after midnight. It happened near Graham Packaging on Foundation Drive near Hwy 57 and Baseline Rd. No injuries were reported in the accident. Crews said they actually had to leave the truck there because of conditions.

Officials say there's also an abandoned car on Highway 41 just north of Diamond in Evansville.

Some tips on how to deal with these conditions:

  • Keep a flashlight and extra batteries handy, as well as a battery powered weather radio and non-perishable food.
  • This is something that people may have a tendency to forget, if you take medicine, keep some extra on hand in case you aren't able to get to a pharmacy or your doctor for a few days.
  • Dress in layers, sometimes, you don't realize how cold it really is, unless you have to be outside for an extended period of time.
