An Evansville man is one of two men facing federal drug charges.

37-year-old Andre White and 34-year-old Jerome Walton, of Indianapolis, were arrested earlier this month after authorities say they were caught with nearly 300 pounds of marijuana.

U.S. Attorney Joseph Hogsett announced the charges Friday morning in Evansville. He says they have evidence that Walton was bringing shipments of the drug to White multiple times a month to distribute in the area.

"3, 4, 500 pounds of marijuana, that's a quarter of at ton," says Hogsett. "That's a lot of dope! So, I think that not only is this case significant because of it's expediency, but just the volume of marijuana."

Hogsett says they think the drugs were obtained from a Mexican drug cartel in Texas, that Walton had access to through his job as a commercial driver.
