LOUISVILLE (WFIE) -

The Tourism Development Finance Authority gives preliminary approval to reopen Kentucky Kingdom.

This means a study will be conducted to determine if the application meets criteria for incentives, which could be as much as $10 million over 10 years.

A lease agreement for the project was approved last week by the State Fair Board which owns the property in Louisville.

Kentucky kingdom closed in 2009.

Developers plan to reopen it in 2014.

The study is expected to take six to eight weeks.
