'We Can!' help kids make healthy choices

Posted: Updated:

Kids don't grow up knowing how to make healthy choices, they rely on adults.

With the We Can! program, the goal is three-fold- improving food choices, increasing physical activity, and reducing screen time.

It's a four week program for parents and kids. While parents learn how to encourage healthy behaviors for their families, the kids will be taking part in their own activities.

BMI's will be measured on all participants at the beginning and end of the program, and you'll be asked to fill out a survey. Participants will be served healthy meals and provided copies of the recipes.

The group will meet weekly. The sessions start on February 27, and continue on March 6, March 13, and March 20 at the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Education and Expo Center in Henderson.

The program is free and they're looking for families to sign up. The deadline is February 13th.

For more information or to be screened for enrollment, call Methodist Hospital clinical dietitian, Bonnie McCarty at 270-827-7549.
