Evansville Police say they have arrested a man on a felony stalking warrant after he tried to hide in the river bottoms near Dogtown boatramp.
Authorities say 48-year-old Troy Wayne, of Robards, KY., had a class C felony warrant for four counts of stalking and invasion of privacy. Wayne also had a failure To Appear warrant for misdemeanor battery.
On Monday around 7:50 a.m., Vanderburgh Sheriff's deputies say they were alerted that Wayne was possibly traveling down State Road 66, from Posey County towards Vanderburgh County.
Deputies and police officers searched the area and eventually found Wayne's vehicle in the 3000 block of Old Henderson Road. The homeowner stated Wayne had parked his car in the driveway, knocked on the door, and told the homeowner his vehicle had broken down.
Deputies say Wayne then ran from the house, across Old Henderson Road, and south towards the Ohio River.
Authorities say an EPD K-9 unit tracked Wayne down to the waters edge and found him.
Wayne was treated for minor injuries at Deaconess Hospital and then taken to the Vanderburgh County Confinement Center where he was arrested for the following charges:
Felony Warrant: 4 counts of Stalking and Invasion of Privacy – Class C felony
Misdemeanor Warrant: FTA Battery
Resisting Law Enforcement – Class A misdemeanor
The Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department also helped in the search.
