First coal mine death of the year sparks investigation

The first death at a Kentucky coal mine this year went under investigation Friday night.

The mine is owned by T&T Energy in Leslie County. State officials say 52-year-old, Jerry Watts, was welding on a dozer blade when a jack slipped, causing him to get hit in the head.

This is the first coal mining accident reported this year in Kentucky.
