LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A man charged with leading police on a pursuit across county lines appeared in court Saturday morning during arraignment.

Robert Lawson, 28, pleaded not guilty to 10 charges, including assault on a police officer, wanton endangerment and fleeing police.

Judge Stephanie Burke scolded Lawson for endangering the community.

"I strongly suggest you get a check on your behavior. You created a danger to many," Judge Burke said.

Jeffersontown police initially pulled over Lawson's vehicle near Hurstbourne Parkway and Interstate 64 around 4:30 p.m. Friday during a traffic stop. While talking to the officer, police said Lawson sped away. The chase continues east on I-64 until mile marker 28, just south of Simpsonville in a front yard in Shelby County.

Officers said Lawson was trying to get away because he has outstanding warrants for drug possession charges in Indiana and Kentucky.

Judge Burke appointed a public defender for Lawson and is scheduled for an initial hearing Monday.
