On Thursday, the Kentucky State Police received information that an Elkton, KY police officer was attempting to buy narcotics while on duty.

Investigators say their undercover units performed a controlled delivery to Officer Russell Morris of the Elkton Police Department.

Morris is charged with Official Misconduct 1^st Degree, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1^st Degree 1^st Offense - Drug Unspecified - Firearm Enhanced, and Possession of a Synthetic Cannabinoid Agonist - Firearm Enhanced.

He was taken into custody and booked into the Muhlenberg County Detention Center.
