KY roads crews get ready to combat slick roads

Posted: Updated:
WEBSTER CO., KY (WFIE) -

Kentucky Highway crews have been pre-treating main roadways, but it's often the county roads that give drivers the most problems.

Trucks are fueled up and geared up to hit the county roads Friday morning.

The Webster County Highway Department says its four plow trucks will be out icing heavily traveled intersections and curvy, dangerous roads in the morning.

The state began pre-treating roads on Thursday, but county roads do no get pre-treated. Officials say the roads are too dangerous to start plowing and treating at night.

"As a county we are putting the snow plows on, our salters on so we'll be prepared for in the morning," said Linda Wilson, Webster Co. Road Supervisor. "We don't do any treating at night, it's too hazardous, but we will have our trucks ready to roll in the morning in case there should be any accumulation," she said.

We'll be continuing to watch road conditions throughout the Tri-State as this next winter storm system moves into our area.
