FOSTORIA, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A Fostoria man with a lengthy arrest record is back in jail after facing a judge Thursday afternoon.

Fostoria police say this man is a textbook example of a repeat offender, and they are hoping this time, the justice system will be able to keep him in jail.

James Potter, of Fostoria, was arrested Tuesday night.

Police say on Monday, he broke into JB Tours on East Lytle Road. He then cracked open the business' safe. Then broke into the adjacent building and attempted another safe crack, but could not open the second safe.

Within 24 hours, police had enough evidence for a search warrant, and found incriminating evidence at Potter's house.

The Fostoria Police Department has seen Potter many times before, and hope this will be the last.

"Just off the top of my head, I have been able to confirm that he has over 25 convictions of B&E, over 10 convictions of safe cracking, convictions of aggravated robbery, burglary, possession of criminal tools, drug possession. He has quite the extensive criminal record," said Captain Patrick Brooks with the Fostoria Police Department.

Potter's bond was set at $225,000 Thursday afternoon. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
