More details are coming out about the Facebook threat against Castle High School Wednesday morning that had school officials issue a precautionary lockdown.
Warrick County Chief Deputy Marvin Heilman tells 14 News the threat came from a 16-year-old Castle freshman.
Officials say a couple of parents in the district became aware of the post around 7:00 Wednesday morning and took the information to the school. Officers immediately locked down the school.
"The principal came over the announcements and was like this is a lockdown. This is not a drill," senior Rachel Gibson said.
Officials had the school in lockdown mode for over an hour.
Warrick County's Chief Deputy says a 16-year-old freshman posted a threat targeting Castle High School, but no students in particular. Officers didn't release the exact statement, but said it also referenced the Sandy Hook Shooting.
"It was nerve racking," Gibson told 14 News.
"Everybody was sitting in their classrooms. Some were scared, others were laughing about it," senior Micheal Gillispie said.
After officers found the student off campus, and determined that no one else was involved, the lockdown was lifted.
A high school parent says he was really happy with how school handled the situation.
"There's an escalation with events like what happened at Castle High School today. No doubt from attention seekers, attention grabbers, and it's probably not going to stop. You have to rest with some assurance when your school corporation does the job that ours does in dealing with these situations and communicating at home," parent Dayne Heldt said.
Officers say both the student and his parents have been cooperative and that he hasn't been arrested at this time.
The investigation is ongoing, and officers will be following up with the freshman to check for any possible mental health issues.
The superintendent tells 14 News there will be additional officers in the school over the next couple of days, just as a precaution.
