Evansville police say they have a suspect, but have made no arrest in the stabbing of an Evansville man Tuesday afternoon.
Detectives say there was no 911 call for help. Instead, their investigation began after the victim walked into St. Mary's Emergency Room, bleeding from three stab wounds.
Officers gathered outside the home just before 5:00 Tuesday night, waiting to be let inside.
About an hour later, a crime scene unit arrived and a woman police identified as the homeowner let investigators inside to gather evidence.
Police say it was late Tuesday afternoon when the victim says he got in a verbal argument with the suspect. They say that suspect then pulled a knife and stabbed the victim in the left leg, in the back, and his right hand.
Neighbors told 14 News that crime is no stranger to this neighborhood. Police say that's why they're always on the lookout.
"This is an area we regularly patrol. It's the south side of Evansville so we're down here a lot. Jefferson is one of our streets we travel a lot down here. These streets get traveled a lot by us and our patrol," said Officer Raymond Holden.
They say they've interviewed their suspect, but aren't releasing his identity, only that he's 19 years old.
