Pike County fire destroys home; but leaves no injuries (including dogs)

Posted: Updated:

A house fire that started Monday morning gutted a Pike County home.

The home is located on East State Road 356, near Pride's Creek Golf Course.

The homeowner was away from home when someone called and let him know his house was on fire.

We're told no one else was home except for three dogs. They were able to safely get out of the home.

The Patoka Township Fire Department, the Harrison Township Fire Department, the Jefferson Township fire department, the Petersburg Fire Department, and the Pike County Sheriff's Office all responded to help out.

Authorities say they had to use a tanker truck to help fight the fire.

No word yet, how the fire might have started.
