Famous used car auctioned off at $4.2-million

On Saturday in Arizona, the original Batmobile from the 1960s television series was up for auction.

The 'used-car' was sold for $4.2-million from George Barris, the man who customized a 1955 Lincoln Futura Concept car and turned it into the famed crime-fighting conveyance.

The Batman TV show ran for three seasons and featured the most popular 19-foot-long, black bubble-topped car which, in fiction, could lay down smoke screens and oil slicks.

While the bid has ended, the bidder has not been identified publicly.
