SYLVANIA, OH (Toledo News Now) – Authorities are searching for Travis Welch, who is allegedly responsible for two armed robberies in Sylvania.
According to police, Welch went to the KFC on Alexis Road December 22, where he flashed a weapon, assaulted a manager, and forced him to open a safe.
On Sunday, January 13, Welch allegedly robbed a woman who was giving him a ride home. He reportedly pulled a gun out and pointed it at her head as he demanded money.
"We believe he's still in the area," said Captain Rick Schnoor of the Sylvania Police. "He has close ties to the greater Toledo area, and we're confident we can have him in custody very soon."
And Welch's family hopes he will come forward so they know he is safe.
"We're all worried about you," said Ora Welch, with her message to her nephew. "You made a mistake. We'll go through this together. Just come home, baby."
Welch is 30 years old, 245 pounds, 6-foot-1-inch tall and has brown eyes. He is considered to be armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Northwest Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force at 866-4WANTED.
