Questions still emerging over proposed Lloyd and 41 cloverleaf

Posted: Updated:

Drivers may be looking forward to improved changes on Tri-State roadways, but those living near the proposed cloverleaf at the Lloyd and Highway 41 still have a lot of questions.

They showed up at Wednesday's public meeting hosted by members of the Evansville Metropolitan Planning Organization.

The goal- to present information on a number of projects, but the proposed $30 million cloverleaf got the most attention.

Alex Hazen, wanted to know about a planned  bike path at the cloverleaf. The easement requirements cut across the corner of her apartment building, which could mark it for demolition.

"This is an eight unit building, 15 tenants, and most are low income. The landlord has worked hard to make rent low with all utilities. I've checked Craigslist and other options. My overhead would double and so would everybody elses," Hazen said.

Hazen says the latest map released shows there may be 50-70 feet of wiggle room to shift the bike path slightly to the west, but officials haven't commented on the feasibility of that.

The new cloverleaf project has been approved by the state and construction is slated to begin next year.
