After being named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week last week, University of Evansville sophomore forward Mallory Ladd was named the MVC Newcomer of the Week in an announcement by the league office Monday afternoon.
Ladd was instrumental in leading UE past the Salukis, scoring 16 points and grabbing a career-high 13 rebounds to record her fifth double-double in as many games for Evansville. Ladd finished the contest 5-for-9 from the floor and made all five of her attempts from the free throw line, extending her streak of consecutive free throws made to 37, tying her for the fifth longest streak in MVC history.
On the season, Ladd leads the Aces in scoring (15.6 ppg), rebounding (11.0 rpg) and free throw percentage (97.4%).
Evansville (4-10, 2-1 MVC) will continue Valley play this week with a pair of games at Illinois State and Indiana State. The Aces will travel to Normal, Ill., Thursday, Jan. 17 for 7:05 p.m. game with the Redbirds, before wrapping up the weekend with a 1:05 p.m. contest against the Sycamores Saturday, Jan. 19.
