The artist working on a sculpture to be on display at the new hospital in Owensboro, pays a visit to the city.
Mary Carothers is making a sculpture that resembles a dandelion. She's collecting seeds from people in the community to be cast into seed pods that will hang from the sculpture. So far, she's collected over 200.
The hospital hopes the sculpture will be a positive distraction to help patients forget about their stress, so they'll respond better to treatment.
"This is about having the community's voice in the project itself and that the instillation is therefore informed by the community," Carothers said.
The new hospital is currently under construction. It's set to open June 1st.
