VINCENNES, IN (WFIE) -

Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an all terrain vehicle crash that occurred on County Road 150 N in Daviess County on Friday.

Officers say 19-year-old Heath Snider, of Vincennes, and other off-road vehicles were traveling west on County Road 150 N at a high rate of speed. As the group approached the White River Bridge, Snider's ATV left the roadway, went airborne through several tree tops.

The ATV traveled approximately 36 feet airborne before landing on its top and throwing Snider from the seat.

Officials say Snider was transported to Daviess County Hospital and later flown to St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville.

Snider suffered severe injuries to the head and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

DNR says alcohol may be a contributing factor in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation by Indiana Conservation Officers. Officers highly recommend the use of helmets and proper safety equipment for those riding all-terrain vehicles.
