SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Tyler Wimberly, 23, was arrested early this morning at 44 Paul Revere Dr. in Agawam.

The Springfield police narcotics bureau started the investigation before handing it over to the federal prosecutors for prosecution. U.S. Marshals wanted Wimberly on a federal indictment for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine base.

After determining that Wimberly was staying with a girlfriend in Agawam, the U.S. Marshal's fugitive task force responded to and surrounded the residence at 44 Paul Revere Dr. before entering. Once inside, task force members found Wimberly hiding underneath the kitchen sink, where he was stuck. Wimberly had to be carefully removed from the cabinets under the sink by the task force members.

The Massachusetts State Police violent fugitive apprehension unit, Holyoke police, West Springfield, Springfield and Agawam police departments all assisted the task force members.

"You can run but you can't hide, not even under the kitchen sink", said U.S. Marshal John Gibbons. "This is an example of our continued cooperation and partnership with our local, state and federal partners."

Gibbons also thanked all law enforcement agencies that assisted in the investigation and safe arrest of Wimberly.

Wimberly is currently being held in federal custody until his initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Springfield later today.
