Four people were arrested following an early morning meth bust on Evansville's west side.

It happened on the 1900 block of West Indiana street between Ninth Avenue and Wabash.

Police say their officers actually smelled the meth making materials just after 4 a.m. Tuesday.

They found two active one pot meth labs, and other materials to manufacture meth inside an apartment.

Four people were arrested at the apartment: Jason Lee Barrett; Aaron Jean Pfeiffer; Gabrielle Rose Vailes; and Kayla Michelle Phillippe.

A representative from the Meth Suppression Unit says, "There are certain chemical odors, like ether, ammonia and chemicals like that, if it's cold outside they kind of get in the atmosphere and travel a little bit, so that's how they smelled it, they were just driving down the road."

The EPD Meth Suppression Unit was on scene cleaning up Tuesday morning until about 10 a.m. While on the scene they had the street blocked off to traffic.

Officials tell us this is the seventh meth lab report local authorities have responded to this year.

If you suspect a meth lab in your neighborhood you can call the Evansville Police Department's Meth Suppression Unit at 812-436-7918.
