OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

An award-winning band will help students celebrate Owensboro's famous Bluegrass culture.

This week, the Bluegrass band Monroeville will perform concerts for students here in Owensboro.

The 2012 Momentum Awards Band of the Year will be at Owensboro Middle School's south campus this morning before visiting Foust and Newton Parrish Elementary Schools on Friday morning.

Next week, Monroeville will visit Estes and Sutton Elementary Schools.

Before the band's visit, students at these schools will be brushing up on their Bluegrass knowledge so that they'll be able to connect the performances with what they've learned.

This is something that the International Bluegrass Music Association does every year to help students learn about something that's a big part of the culture in Owensboro.

Monroeville will also put on a benefit concert for the Bluegrass Museum Friday at 7 p.m. if you're interested in stopping by.
