EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) -

An East St. Louis woman who had been recognized as the oldest person in Illinois has died at the age of 111.

A funeral home in the city says Mayetta Epps-Miller died Monday.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports that Epps-Miller was recognized as the oldest Illinois resident in January of last year. At that time, she was also listed as the 14th oldest living American.

The supercentenarian - a term referring to anyone over the age of 110 - was born April 15, 1901.

She is survived by a son, five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 23 great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren.

In a 2010 interview with the News-Democrat, daughter-in-law Doris Epps described Epps-Miller as "the rock in the family" and someone who "pulls everybody together and makes sure everyone is on track."
