EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Some local business owners take their New Years resolution a step further, forming a group aimed at promoting west Franklin Street.

Four businesses have founded the Franklin Street Events Association.

The founding members, all from Evansville, say this street has unlimited potential. We're told they want to bring more fun to the west side, and just more things for people to do.

It's the 'Main Street' of West side.

"Franklin actually, per the mileage that's here, actually has the most bars of any place in Evansville," said Lamasco Bar & Grill owner Amy Word.

It's a new idea, launched just days ago. The Franklin Street Events Association.

"Franklin Street has the possibility to be a Broadripple that's in Indy, the Broadway in Nashville, the 4th Street in Louisville," Marketing Director of Tin Man Brewing Company Leah Spivey.

Formed by four small businesses, The Tin Man Brewery, Lamasco Bar and Grill, Heirloom Records (a vintage records and clothing shop), and right next door, The Winzerwald Winery.

"I want to see Evansville grow and I think we all share that passion for Franklin Street and for Evansville," said Spivey. "We want to see Evansville really become something and make it a place tourists can come. "

Aimed at giving more people, more fun things to do. Something Tin man Patrons say they'd buy into.

"I would participate if I was given the opportunity," said Greg Thomason. "If there was something to do, I would definitely go. "

The first event will be February 8th, a Mardi Gras crawl. They'd also like to do music festivals and even a parade.

Now, the founders tell 14 News they're here to listen.

If anyone has suggestions for the Franklin Street Events Organization, eave a comment on their Facebook page.
