A longtime professor at the University of Southern Indiana has passed away.

Eric Von Fuhrmann, Professor of English at USI, died two days short of his 79th birthday.

He taught English and Humanities at the university from 1965 until 2012.

He enjoyed all kinds of literature and wanted his classes to do the same.

We spoke with one of Professor Von Fuhrmann's best friends and colleagues, who says he will truly be missed.

"Eric, as a teacher, he was a tough taskmaster. He demanded a lot of his students. He is certainly mourned by anybody who knew him as half as well as I did and spent enough time with him to appreciate," Dr. Richard Mussard said of Professor Von Fuhrmann.

Professor Von Fuhrmann requested not to have any memorial service in his honor, but friends may contribute in his memory through the USI Foundation.
