EPD investigating pair of New Year's Eve robberies

Evansville Police are investigating two robberies that happened on New Year's Eve.

EPD says the first robbery happened around 7 p.m. at the Stonebrook Apartments on Savannah Dr.

Officials say 29-year-old Loren Mendoza was just about to go into his apartment when he was approached by two black males wearing black bandanas on their faces.

Authorities say one suspect pointed a gun at Mendoza and demanded his wallet. Police say the suspects took Mendoza's wallet and fled into another apartment building.

Evansville Police say another robbery happened around 8 p.m. at 1601 Green River Road.

Police say a black male got into 44-year-old David Miller's car and asked for a ride back to his car.

EPD says the suspect had Miller drive him to an alley near Weinbach and Covert. Police say the suspect then demanded cash from Miller, but say the suspect never showed a weapon.

Authorities say the suspect fled from the scene in a newer model black car.

Police say both robberies are under investigation.
