One year ago on Christmas Eve, a Logansport church lost everything as a fire burned down their sanctuary.
Now, they are making plans to rebuild.
The First Baptist Church in Logansport held a candle light service on Christmas Eve to celebrate Christmas. But the service also was held in remembrance of when they lost everything.
But, just in time for Christmas, they now have good news to report.
Pastor Lance Cypert remembers when The First Baptist Church in Logansport caught fire. The church fire, which started about 3 a.m., shocked the members. But now some are considering the fire a blessing in disguise.
"This may have been something that was good for our church and our congregation, to have something that could bring us together in this way," says church member Greg Burns.
Through donations, the donations have allowed the church to renovate an activity center to hold service.
Now, plans are underway for a new church building to be built starting in January.
"A wonderful Christmas would be next Christmas Eve, celebrating that in our new building," Cypert says.
The pastor, in recounting the highs and lows of the past year, says it was just part of the plan.
Church Deacon David Graves agrees: "God had other plans for us. We are searching him and watching him and following the way he wants us to go."
The church expects to break ground in January and is hopeful that it will be located in its new building before this time next year.
