POSEY CO., IN (WFIE) -

A Posey County man faces neglect and several other charges after state police say he had been shooting guns on a public roadway with an 11 month old baby inside his vehicle.

Indiana State Police say around 3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon, they saw 21-year-old Thomas Fuhs of Wadesville pull over on Springfield Road and point a gun out of the passenger side window. They say Fuhs pulled back when he noticed the officers.

While searching the truck, troopers noticed an 11 month old child in a child safety seat. State police say they also found several weapons including a Ruger .22 caliber rifle that looked like it had been cut down into a pistol, inside the truck. They say the weapon was loaded, the safety was off, and a loaded 25 round magazine was on the floorboard along with spent shell casings.

After further investigation, state police say Fuhs was attempting to shoot crows from the roadway, but did not have a license for the guns or a hunting license

Fuhs was arrested on charges of neglect of a dependant, possession of a handgun without a license, hunting on or near a public highway, and hunting without a license.

He was taken to the Posey County Jail where he later released on bond.
