FT. BRANCH, IN (WFIE) -

Santa made an early visit at the Treats for Kids celebration in Fort Branch.

This 85 year tradition, started during the depression era by local business owners. Children tell Santa what they want for Christmas, and receive a bag of goodies that includes fruit, peanuts, and candy.

Treats for Kids President Lisa Gilpatrick says over 300 children come to this event every year.

"We usually have at least 325 kids. Sometimes we even have great-grandparents that still come, because they have been doing it ever since they were little," Gilpatrick said.

Gilpatrick says they the tradition will be kept alive next Christmas season.
