Around 7:10, Sunday night officers responded to a 911 call on the 500 block of South Denby. The caller reported that someone had been shot.

When they arrived, they found 19-year-old Davon Gee in the front yard. Officers attempted lifesaving measures but the victim died.

After interviewing everyone involved, officers came up with the series of events that led to the shooting.

According to their investigation, a 17-year-old girl and Gee got into an argument. He apparently threatened to assault the girl, and to use a "stun gun" on her. She ran from the house, and he chased her.

When Devon Gee caught her; according to the report, he began beating her in the front yard.

The girl's 79-year-old grandfather came outside to help, repeatedly telling Gee to stop. Witnesses say he then threatened the older man with a stun gun and began to approach him.

The grandfather was armed with a handgun, and fired one shot that hit Gee. He ran to the front yard of a nearby home, where he collapsed.

The grandfather told investigators he knew he could not defend himself against the bigger, younger attacker and feared the stun gun could kill him due to his heart condition. He told investigators he has a pace maker and a defibrillator.

So far, no word on if charges will be filed.
