Ribbon cutting held for Mount Vernon's Riverfront Park

A multi-million dollar project is becoming a reality along the Mount Vernon riverfront, a groundbreaking is happening today along with a ribbon cutting to celebrate some other major changes that have been in the works over the last few years.

The ribbon cutting is for the recently completed Riverfront Park.

Today's dedication will showcase the trail, the theater, interactive fountains and the overlook of the Ohio.

Highlighting the Ohio was one of the main goals of this project.

The people of Mt. Vernon believe the river is a huge asset to the city and over the past few years, they've used more than $2 million of grant funds to make these improvements.

As for those events today, local artists will provide entertainment starting at 1:30 this afternoon.

The ribbon cutting is at 2. The ground breaking will follow.

Local leaders hope you'll come out and help them celebrate.

They've been working really hard on this development and want to share it with the residents here and the surrounding communities.
